Kids Week, That Fish Place – That Pet Place. July 14th – 20th. That Fish Place – That Pet Place is excited to host our annual Kids’ Week! All Week Scavenger Hunt – Try your hand at our in-store Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win your very own That Pet Show & Store tour for you and 20 friends! Scavenger hunt sheets will be available in store and online to bring in, complete, and enter. Each clue corresponds to a location inside our store you’ll have to visit! York State Fair, York Expo Center and Fairgrounds. July 19th – 28th. Founded in 1765, The York State Fair (America’s First Fair ®) is a 10-day fun-filled event for the entire family! The York State Fair combines entertainment with agriculture, featuring performances by world-famous musicians alongside the Ag education center and livestock judging. Add in rides and special attractions and you have a recipe for fun for the whole family.
Lebanon Area Fair, Lebanon Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds. July 20th – 27th. It’s no surprise that the Lebanon Area Fair was voted Lebanon Valley’s Best Local Event by area residents; more than 50,000 attendees flock to the Fairgrounds each summer to enjoy the annual showcase of Lebanon County agriculture, great food, carnival rides, track events and live entertainment.
Some 8,000 exhibits are judged and on display in the various halls and barns, with friends and neighbors vying for the coveted first place ribbon, Grand Champion rosette or Best of Show designation. With 4-H, FFA, and farm projects as its focus, the Fair’s competitive exhibits show off a multitude of talents, such as sewing, painting, woodworking, photography, canning, quilting and more. Locals with a green thumb enter produce and flowers – from apples to zinnias, the Fair’s fruit, vegetable, flower and herb classes display just how prolific Lebanon County’s well-tended soil can be. Fairgoers can also expect to see the finest livestock in the County on display: poultry, rabbits, beef cattle, hogs, sheep, goats, dairy cattle, and horses. The majority of the stock are entered by school-age children enrolled in 4-H and FFA projects.
Beyond the exhibit halls and barns, stroll the Midway to enjoy famous Fair food such as french fries, milkshakes, and fried bologna pretzel roll sandwiches. Live musical entertainment takes place throughout the week at the Pavilion and Main Stage, in addition to tractor and truck pulls, tough trucks, rodeo, and the grand finale demolition derby followed by fireworks on the final Saturday of the Fair. The track events are a major attraction at the Fair and thousands fill the grandstands every year. The Midway is also home to carnival rides and games, a petting zoo, and displays by area businesses and nonprofits.
From young to old, there is something for every member of the family to enjoy at the Fair. Stop by and see what makes this 8-day event the County’s largest annual attraction!
Carlisle Summerfair, Downtown Carlisle. July 1st – 7th. The 2024 Carlisle Summerfair offers free family-friendly events in the Carlisle, PA region at the start of summer. Please note, there are several events that do charge a small fee, but for the most part, the majority of our activities are free for everyone.
Kutztown Folk Festival, Kutztown. July 1st – 7th. The Kutztown Folk Festival is the oldest continuously operated folklife festival in America. This nine-day event continues to draw visitors from all over the world, entertaining families while providing valuable insight into the traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch and their fascinating way of life. Children’s activities abound and admission is free for children 12 and under. The festival also houses the largest quilt sale in America and has an internationally attended Quilt Auction of top prize-winning quilts.
July Music Series: Orchestra, Reservoir Park. July 5th. Kick off the July Music Series on July 5th with the return of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra featuring Scarlet Rose and Dred “Perky” Scott from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Sponsored by Dauphin County, Highmark, and PennState Health.
First Friday Free Family Film: Spongebob Squarepants, the Appell Center. July 5th. Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie debut of that undersea sensation, SpongeBob SquarePants!
There’s trouble bubbling up in Bikini Bottom, King Neptune’s crown is missing, and Mr. Krabs has been accused of stealing it! Together with his best pal Patrick, SpongeBob sets out to treacherous Shell City to reclaim Neptune’s crown and save Mr. Krabs, in a spectacular adventure filled with “over-the-top, under-the-sea action and non-stop laughs!”
Movie Night in the Arboretum, Reading Public Museum. July 5th. Join us for an evening of fun for our first ever Movies in The Arboretum series! Bring your friends and family to our beautiful Arboretum to take in the sights and sounds of two beloved movies, “How to Train Your Dragon” and “The Princess Bride.” Before the movie begins, your family will be welcome to explore The Museum and see our wonderful summer exhibits, The Lost World of Dragons and The Amazing Castle.
Snacks and drinks will be sold at both movie screenings. Pre-registration is only required for seats in the 40ft by 40ft. reserved section upfront. Seats outside of this area are free and are based on a first come basis. Donations are still appreciated. All proceeds will be used to support future Arboretum and Education Programs at The Reading Public Museum. Guests are invited to bring their own blankets or lower chairs as well.
Sunset Music & Movie Series: Elemental, Fort Hunter Mansion & Park. July 5th. Enjoy a free movie night outdoors under the stars at Fort Hunter Park. The whole family will love Elemental which has a “PG” rating and a run time of 1 hour and 49 minutes. The Friends of Fort Hunter will operate a concession stand with movie snacks and drinks. Dauphin County Parks & Recreation is excited to offer a summer of fun events for the whole family with our Sunset Music & Movie Series!
Community Day at the Trout Gallery, Dickinson College. July 7th. Visitors are invited to participate in a celebration of Black art and culture. The Trout Gallery along with co-sponsor Hope Station will host local Black-owned businesses and vendors selling arts, crafts, and food. Additional entertainment includes free live music, art activities, exhibition tours, a kids’ scavenger hunt with prizes, and a bounce house. This event is part of the Carlisle Summerfair series.
July Music Series: Youth Showcase, Reservoir Park. July 7th. Mark your calendars for the July Music Series: Mayor Williams Rising Stars Youth Showcase on July 7th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Sponsored by The City of Harrisburg, Highmark, Harrisburg School District, Dauphin County, & Dauphin County Economic Development.
Princess and Fairy Cruise, Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat. July 9th. Treat your little princess to an evening of laughs, fun and the royal treatment. This activity-filled ride will have each prospective princess participate in several themed activities and crafts. Includes pizza, drink, and ice cream. This promises to be a magical evening that you and your children will remember forever!
Cap Film: How to Train Your Dragon, the Appell Center. July 10th. This film rolls fire-breathing action, epic adventure and big laughs into a captivating, fun and original story. Hiccup is a young Viking who defies tradition and befriends one of his deadliest foes – a ferocious dragon he calls Toothless. Together, the unlikely heroes fight against the odds to save both their worlds in this wonderful, feel-good hit.
Berks County Fair, Reading Fairgrounds. July 10th – 13th. Come out to the 170th Berks County Fair! The second oldest fair in PA. Great food, music, rodeo, exciting live entertainment, live animals, exhibits and so much more!
Food Truck Palooza, Downtown Lebanon. July 10th. Join the CLA for the 4th Annual Food Truck Palooza in downtown Lebanon, PA. Food trucks and music will be available 5pm – 8pm.
Food Truck and Restaurant Rally, Downtown New Cumberland. July 11th. Indulge your taste buds with the freshest, most mouthwatering fare from the area’s top-notch food trucks. International fare bursting with flavor, sandwiches that will leave you speechless, lip-smacking barbecues, delectable sweets, and artisan snacks that will have you coming back for more! And that’s not all… Our downtown businesses will be staying open late, offering special promotions just for you.

Blueberry Festival, Blueberry Hill Farm. July 12th – 14th. Blueberry Hill is hosting their second annual blueberry festival. Blueberry Hill is all about supporting the community and local food vendors, crafters, and makers. We also love to have fun! This event will be held on July 12, July 13, and July 14, 2024. Blueberry picking will be available all day starting at 8 am. Admission to the patch will conclude 30 minutes prior to the closing time of the event. We will offer free onsight music and entertainment and food for purchase. A picnic area will be available. Feel free to bring your own chairs, as chairs will be limited. This will be a mostly CASH ONLY event due to lack of service in our area. However, some vendors may take checks or credit at their discretion. Handicap parking will be available. A vendor spotlight will be posted and a list of vendors will be posted prior to the event on our website.

Food Chains in the Park, Camp Catherine. July 12th. We will be reading the story “Creep, Leap, Crunch! A Food Chain Story” and making a related food chain project. We will also be hiking to the creek for some water play and to observe food chains in our outdoor classroom. Explorers should dress for mud and water play. Parents are required to stay and are encouraged to play and learn right alongside their mini explorer.
Movie Night in the Park, Friendship Park. July 12th. Sponsored by Alba Orthodontics, Upper Allen Township is pleased to host a family movie night at Friendship Park. Bring your appetite; there will be food trucks! The movie is still to-be-determined and will start around dusk. We hope you can make it!

Trains at the Track, Hershey History Center. July 13th. All aboard!! Join us on Saturday, July 13th for our 4th Annual Trains at the Track! Civil War Day, Penn Park. July 20th. York was caught in the crossfire of the war and even surrendered to the Confederates in the Summer of 1863. Our Civil War Day showcases the stories of Yorkers, people of the Susquehanna Valley, and beyond. We are joined by reenactors from the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Sister Catherine of the Sisters of Charity portrayed by Dominish Miller and William Goodridge portrayed by Kelly Summerford. Additionally, Mayor Helfrich will portray A.B. Farquhar in a dramatic interpretation of the Surrender of York with Michael Sipes as General Jubal Early. Visit our website for the tentative schedule. Sweet Corn Festival, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm. July 20th. We think this farm fresh, sweet & crunchy symbol of summer deserves to be celebrated! The Never-Ending Story 40th Anniversary, West Shore Theatre. July 21st. On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called “The Neverending Story,” Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by “The Nothing,” a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive.
Mom & Me Paddle Board Day Camp, Blue Marsh. July 23rd. Campers will learn the basics of stand up paddle boarding, participate in on-land fitness fun, and have a blast doing it! Adults and children will participate in the day’s activities together and separately, allowing time for both independence and bonding. Appropriate for children ages 8 and up (Younger children may be considered, please contact Aqua Om to discuss further). Boards and paddles are provided. Please bring a properly fitted PFD for your child. More details will be provided once you are registered. Use your own board and receive a discount using “BYOB” at checkout. Camp Acorn Acres, That Fish Place – That Pet Place. July 25th. Plants grow in nearly every environment on earth and serve as food for people and many animals. Depending on the kind of plant (and animal), different parts may be eaten including the leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruit and seeds. Children will learn about seeds as food for people and animals and discover how animals spread seeds.

Central PA Pride Parade and Festival, Downtown Harrisburg. July 27th. Pennsylvania’s Capital City is gearing up for an unforgettable celebration of love, acceptance, and unity at this year’s Pride Parade! July Music Series: Afro-Caribbean, Reservoir Park. July 27th. On July 27th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm, get ready to groove to the rhythms of the Afro-Caribbean style music as AFROSOUL CARIBBEAN VIBEZ FEST takes the day at the July Music Series. York State Fair, York Expo Center and Fairgrounds. July 19th – 28th. Founded in 1765, The York State Fair (America’s First Fair ®) is a 10-day fun-filled event for the entire family! The York State Fair combines entertainment with agriculture, featuring performances by world-famous musicians alongside the Ag education center and livestock judging. Add in rides and special attractions and you have a recipe for fun for the whole family.
Lebanon Area Fair, Lebanon Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds. July 20th – 27th. It’s no surprise that the Lebanon Area Fair was voted Lebanon Valley’s Best Local Event by area residents; more than 50,000 attendees flock to the Fairgrounds each summer to enjoy the annual showcase of Lebanon County agriculture, great food, carnival rides, track events and live entertainment.
Some 8,000 exhibits are judged and on display in the various halls and barns, with friends and neighbors vying for the coveted first place ribbon, Grand Champion rosette or Best of Show designation. With 4-H, FFA, and farm projects as its focus, the Fair’s competitive exhibits show off a multitude of talents, such as sewing, painting, woodworking, photography, canning, quilting and more. Locals with a green thumb enter produce and flowers – from apples to zinnias, the Fair’s fruit, vegetable, flower and herb classes display just how prolific Lebanon County’s well-tended soil can be. Fairgoers can also expect to see the finest livestock in the County on display: poultry, rabbits, beef cattle, hogs, sheep, goats, dairy cattle, and horses. The majority of the stock are entered by school-age children enrolled in 4-H and FFA projects.
Beyond the exhibit halls and barns, stroll the Midway to enjoy famous Fair food such as french fries, milkshakes, and fried bologna pretzel roll sandwiches. Live musical entertainment takes place throughout the week at the Pavilion and Main Stage, in addition to tractor and truck pulls, tough trucks, rodeo, and the grand finale demolition derby followed by fireworks on the final Saturday of the Fair. The track events are a major attraction at the Fair and thousands fill the grandstands every year. The Midway is also home to carnival rides and games, a petting zoo, and displays by area businesses and nonprofits.

Carlisle Summerfair, Downtown Carlisle. July 1st – 7th. The 2024 Carlisle Summerfair offers free family-friendly events in the Carlisle, PA region at the start of summer. Please note, there are several events that do charge a small fee, but for the most part, the majority of our activities are free for everyone.
Kutztown Folk Festival, Kutztown. July 1st – 7th. The Kutztown Folk Festival is the oldest continuously operated folklife festival in America. This nine-day event continues to draw visitors from all over the world, entertaining families while providing valuable insight into the traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch and their fascinating way of life. Children’s activities abound and admission is free for children 12 and under. The festival also houses the largest quilt sale in America and has an internationally attended Quilt Auction of top prize-winning quilts.

Movie Night in the Arboretum, Reading Public Museum. July 5th. Join us for an evening of fun for our first ever Movies in The Arboretum series! Bring your friends and family to our beautiful Arboretum to take in the sights and sounds of two beloved movies, “How to Train Your Dragon” and “The Princess Bride.” Before the movie begins, your family will be welcome to explore The Museum and see our wonderful summer exhibits, The Lost World of Dragons and The Amazing Castle.
Snacks and drinks will be sold at both movie screenings. Pre-registration is only required for seats in the 40ft by 40ft. reserved section upfront. Seats outside of this area are free and are based on a first come basis. Donations are still appreciated. All proceeds will be used to support future Arboretum and Education Programs at The Reading Public Museum. Guests are invited to bring their own blankets or lower chairs as well.
Sunset Music & Movie Series: Elemental, Fort Hunter Mansion & Park. July 5th. Enjoy a free movie night outdoors under the stars at Fort Hunter Park. The whole family will love Elemental which has a “PG” rating and a run time of 1 hour and 49 minutes. The Friends of Fort Hunter will operate a concession stand with movie snacks and drinks. Community Day at the Trout Gallery, Dickinson College. July 7th. Visitors are invited to participate in a celebration of Black art and culture. The Trout Gallery along with co-sponsor Hope Station will host local Black-owned businesses and vendors selling arts, crafts, and food. Additional entertainment includes free live music, art activities, exhibition tours, a kids’ scavenger hunt with prizes, and a bounce house. This event is part of the Carlisle Summerfair series.

Blueberry Festival, Blueberry Hill Farm. July 12th – 14th. Blueberry Hill is hosting their second annual blueberry festival. Blueberry Hill is all about supporting the community and local food vendors, crafters, and makers. We also love to have fun! This event will be held on July 12, July 13, and July 14, 2024. Blueberry picking will be available all day starting at 8 am. Admission to the patch will conclude 30 minutes prior to the closing time of the event. We will offer free onsight music and entertainment and food for purchase. A picnic area will be available. Feel free to bring your own chairs, as chairs will be limited. This will be a mostly CASH ONLY event due to lack of service in our area. However, some vendors may take checks or credit at their discretion. Handicap parking will be available. A vendor spotlight will be posted and a list of vendors will be posted prior to the event on our website.

Food Chains in the Park, Camp Catherine. July 12th. We will be reading the story “Creep, Leap, Crunch! A Food Chain Story” and making a related food chain project. We will also be hiking to the creek for some water play and to observe food chains in our outdoor classroom. Explorers should dress for mud and water play. Parents are required to stay and are encouraged to play and learn right alongside their mini explorer.

Civil War Day, Penn Park. July 20th. York was caught in the crossfire of the war and even surrendered to the Confederates in the Summer of 1863. Our Civil War Day showcases the stories of Yorkers, people of the Susquehanna Valley, and beyond. We are joined by reenactors from the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Sister Catherine of the Sisters of Charity portrayed by Dominish Miller and William Goodridge portrayed by Kelly Summerford. Additionally, Mayor Helfrich will portray A.B. Farquhar in a dramatic interpretation of the Surrender of York with Michael Sipes as General Jubal Early. Visit our website for the tentative schedule. The Never-Ending Story 40th Anniversary, West Shore Theatre. July 21st. On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called “The Neverending Story,” Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by “The Nothing,” a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive.

Mom & Me Paddle Board Day Camp, Blue Marsh. July 23rd. Campers will learn the basics of stand up paddle boarding, participate in on-land fitness fun, and have a blast doing it! Adults and children will participate in the day’s activities together and separately, allowing time for both independence and bonding. Appropriate for children ages 8 and up (Younger children may be considered, please contact Aqua Om to discuss further). Boards and paddles are provided. Camp Acorn Acres, That Fish Place – That Pet Place. July 25th. Plants grow in nearly every environment on earth and serve as food for people and many animals. Depending on the kind of plant (and animal), different parts may be eaten including the leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruit and seeds. Children will learn about seeds as food for people and animals and discover how animals spread seeds.
