Junie B. Jones: The Fulton Theatre, Lancaster. May 4th, 11th, and 18th. IT’S JUNIE B.’S FIRST DAY OF FIRST GRADE, AND A LOT OF THINGS HAVE CHANGED FOR HER! Junie’s friend, Lucille, doesn’t want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting.


Family Fun Day: South Mountain YMCA, Reinholds. May 5th and 19th. Experience the magic of our mountain! Bring your family and we’ll provide the fun. Climb our tower, shoot an arrow, roast a marshmallow, ride in the wagon and more! Summer camp tours are available throughout the day. Family Fun Days are FREE and open to the public. Spring Storytime: Flinchbaugh’s Orchard, Hellam. May 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. Stretch your legs, and ready your ears for a fun FREE Story Time at the farm this spring. Tuesday Mornings this spring (starting April 2 thru May 28 ): Story Time with Miss Felicia from the Kreutz Creek Library or our own Miss Kristin at 10am. 30 minutes of story time and movement. Stay after to enjoy the Corn Barn and Straw Bale Maze at the farm too! All classes will be held under our Orchard Pavilion or in the grass yard by the Orchard Pavilion. No registration required.


79th US Women’s Open: Lancaster Country Club, Lancaster. May 24th – June 2nd. The 2024 U.S. Women’s Open will be the second USGA championship contested at Lancaster Country Club. In Gee Chun of the Republic of Korea edged fellow Korean Amy Yang by one stroke to win the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open, her first of two career major championships. The championship set records for U.S. Women’s Open entries and attendance.

First Thursday: Market Square, Manheim. May 2nd, 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Enjoy downtown Manheim and the surrounding areas. Live music, vendors and food trucks will be located around Market Square. Get ready to groove to the tunes of the Alex Meixner Band, delivering lively polka tunes and classic German melodies. Bark for Life: New Life Fellowship, Ephrata. May 4th, 10:00am – 2:00pm. Bark For Life honors the lifelong contributions of our Canine Caregivers, celebrates human and canine cancer survivors and works to end cancer through research, education, advocacy, and patient services.

Join Us in a Canine Event to Fight Cancer!

There will be lots of activities to keep your dog entertained: games, contests and a Strut Your Mutt costume parade! There will be rescues, adoptable dogs, vendors, food trucks, demonstrations and more. Again this year, there will also be a live auction starting at 1pm. Historic Baseball at French Creek: French Creek State Park, Elverson. May 4th, 11:30am. Step back in time and watch baseball as it would have been played in the 1860s– as the community of Hopewell Furnace would have understood the game. This free, family friendly event will educate visitors on how baseball has transformed into the game we understand today.

We will have a brief program discussing the overview of the 1864 rules at 11:30am. At 12:00pm, sit back and relax as the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia takes on team Hopewell Furnace in a full nine inning, 1864-style game!

Bring your favorite lawn chair or a blanket as there is not seating near the field.

In an attempt to convert Luke to the dark side, Darth Vader lures young Skywalker into a trap in the Cloud City of Bespin.

Garden Faire: Fort Hunter Mansion and Park, Harrisburg. May 5th, 10:00am. Join us at Garden Faire as we kick off the museum and festival season at Fort Hunter Mansion and Park. Families can participate in a variety of activities, view exhibits in the Centennial Barn, tour the Fort Hunter Mansion, enjoy lunch in the Tavern House, among many other fun activities. Admission to the festival is free and the Fort Hunter Mansion will be open for abbreviated tours at a discount price of $5.


Kids Spring Fling: Lebanon Valley Expo Center, Lebanon. May 5th, 11:00am – 4:00pm. Head in to spring with a fling! Join Red Bird Events and youth groups from all over the Lebanon and Lancaster Area! Tons of youth sports, scout troops, youth centered organizations and so much more! Bounce houses, games, face painting and other activities!


Children’s Day: Daniel Boone Homestead, Birdsboro. May 5th, 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Come and experience colonial life with interactive learning and exploration! Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on activities and demonstrations for children and their families. Children will have the opportunity to learn more about Daniel Boone’s exciting childhood in the Oley Valley and participate in various eighteenth century, hands-on activities such as textile processing, candle dipping, quill pen writing, butter making, and more!

Children will learn about Daniel’s mother Sarah Boone and her famous butter and cheese as they explore the spring cellar and smokehouse. Volunteers will talk about food preservation and children will have a chance to help make butter and tend the Homestead garden. Tours of the Boone House and the Bertolet Log House will be offered throughout the day. At the Bertolet Log House, children will be able to explore animal furs and skins and play with colonial toys and games. Children will also be able to enjoy a colonial dancing demonstration and learn a few simple steps. Throughout the afternoon, volunteers will teach children how to write with a quill pen and dip candles as they learn about handwriting, schooling, and lighting in the eighteenth century.

Families will learn about textile processing in the eighteenth century and about Daniel’s father’s profession as a weaver. The Hopewell Quilters will provide a demonstration and fun hands-on activity for children. Visitors can also watch spinning and wool dyeing demonstrations and try carding wool. Don’t miss this great opportunity for the whole family to learn more about how Daniel Boone lived and played as a child in the Oley Valley in the 1700s!


Storming Into Summer: Clipper Magazine Stadium, Lancaster. May 5th, 2:00pm. FREE Dutch Wonderland pass to the first 1,000 kids 12 & under. Enjoy various beach/summer activities including limbo, water guns, cornhole, sandbox, hula hoop toss & more. Run through an inflatable obstacle course. Tadpole Time features monthly themes that explore the natural world along the river, with stories and activities that will encourage your child’s curiosity about the world around them. For children ages 2-5 with their caretakers. All children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

PickleFest: Dillsburg Community Association, Dillsburg. May 11th, 8:00am – 3:00pm. Pickle Fest is a one day Street Fair held on the 2nd Saturday of May and is Dillsburg’s unofficial start of spring!!! Full of Arts, Crafts, Organizations, Food Vendors, Businesses, Music, 5k Pickle Chase Run and more!! Fair runs from 8am-3pm and runs the entire length of Greenbriar lane from Harrisburg Pike to N. Wild About Dogs: Wildwood Park, Harrisburg. May 11th, 10:00am – 12:00pm. Join the Friends of Wildwood for their third annual Wild About Dogs Event! Union Canal Tunnel Day: Union Canal Tunnel Park, Lebanon. May 18th, 9:00am – 7:00pm. Step back in time and watch baseball as it would have been played in the 1860s– as the community of Hopewell Furnace would have understood the game. Children’s Day: Daniel Boone Homestead, Birdsboro. May 5th, 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Come and experience colonial life with interactive learning and exploration! Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on activities and demonstrations for children and their families. Children will have the opportunity to learn more about Daniel Boone’s exciting childhood in the Oley Valley and participate in various eighteenth century, hands-on activities such as textile processing, candle dipping, quill pen writing, butter making, and more!

Children will learn about Daniel’s mother Sarah Boone and her famous butter and cheese as they explore the spring cellar and smokehouse. Volunteers will talk about food preservation and children will have a chance to help make butter and tend the Homestead garden. Tours of the Boone House and the Bertolet Log House will be offered throughout the day. At the Bertolet Log House, children will be able to explore animal furs and skins and play with colonial toys and games. Children will also be able to enjoy a colonial dancing demonstration and learn a few simple steps. Throughout the afternoon, volunteers will teach children how to write with a quill pen and dip candles as they learn about handwriting, schooling, and lighting in the eighteenth century.

Families will learn about textile processing in the eighteenth century and about Daniel’s father’s profession as a weaver. The Hopewell Quilters will provide a demonstration and fun hands-on activity for children. Visitors can also watch spinning and wool dyeing demonstrations and try carding wool. Don’t miss this great opportunity for the whole family to learn more about how Daniel Boone lived and played as a child in the Oley Valley in the 1700s!

Dog memberships will be available for purchase during the event. All new and current dog members will receive a special gift. A single dog membership will be free with each human membership purchased. Dogs must be leashed, owners are responsible for and must supervise their dogs at all times.

Spring Steam Show: Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, Mechanicsburg. May 16th – 19th. This fun-filled spring show hosted by the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association features tractor parades, tractor pulls, a craft and vendor fair, kids’ activities, a car show, train rides, a chili cook-off, food trucks, live music, and much more. This year features tracked machines such as crawlers, dozers, excavators and more.


Hot Wheels Monster Truck Live Glow Party: Santander Performing Arts Center, Reading. May 17th – 19th. Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party brings fans’ favorite Hot Wheels Monster Trucks to life including Mega Wrex™, Tiger Shark™, Demo Derby™, Bone Shaker™, Bigfoot®, Gunkster™, and introducing the brand new HW 5-Alarm™, the firetruck hero of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks! The Glow Party production features a laser light show, spectacular theatrical effects, dance parties, and Hot Wheels toy giveaways. Baby Animal Festival: Corn Cob Acres, Mountville. May 18th – 19th. Spring showers are bringing…baby animals to Corn Cob Acres! We are excited to host our 2nd Annual Baby Animal Festival this spring. Join us May 18th and 19th to visit with animals both big and small! We will have different kinds of animals that you will be able to learn about, interact with, and touch! Mental Health Awareness Festival: Community Health Council of Lebanon County, Lebanon. May 18th, 10:00am – 1:00pm. Lebanon County is proud to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month! Join us for our 2nd annual Mental Health Awareness Festival on Saturday, May 18th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The event will be held in the parking lot of Poplar Commons (718 Poplar Street, Lebanon, PA 17042). Connect with more than 35 different mental health agencies/providers located throughout the county, and participate in a variety of different activities including yoga and cooking demonstrations, dance party w/ DJ, selfies with a kissing horse, cuddles with dwarf goats, therapy dogs, art, and more! The first 250 attendees receive a free tote bag!

This event aims to bring together two traditional festivals from India: The Color (“Rang”) Festival, celebrated in spring, and The Kite (“Patang”) Festival, celebrated in January. Kids Night Out: Color Me Mine, Harrisburg. May 18th, 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Our Kid’s Night Out is the perfect way to give yourself some free time! Our drop-off program is designed for kids ages 6 and up and includes pizza and healthy snacks for dinner.

Royal Summer Celebration: Reading Public Museum. May 25th, 9:00am – 1:00pm. Hear ye! Hear ye! In honor of RPM’s featured summer exhibitions, all guests of the Museum realm are invited to celebrate!

Museum Members can join us from 9-11am for exclusive access to the two new summer exhibits, Amazing Castle and The Lost World of Dragons. All children will be able to make some exclusive crafts while exploring The Museum before it opens to the general public. Again, this part of the day is MEMBERS ONLY! Registration is required.

From 11am-1pm, both members and non-members of the RPM realm are invited to attend our Knights & Princesses Family Brunch. Children will get to meet some members of the royal court in addition to receiving a fun craft to take home.


ArtsFest: Riverfront Park, Harrisburg. May 25th – 27th. Hand-crafted works will be available for sale in sixteen different categories, including ceramics, digital, drawing, fiber (decorative and wearable), furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, miscellaneous, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood. The festival also features live entertainment, Jazzfest, a community art project, Kidsfest, HBGFest powered by the HBG Flea, 25 food trucks and more.

While visiting, we encourage everyone to explore the City’s vibrant art scene. The Harrisburg Arts District is a walkable area encompassing parts of the Capitol City’s downtown, midtown, and riverfront areas. It features art museums and galleries, theatre, 40+ murals, concert and entertainment venues, historical markers and monuments, and more.

Kidsfest sponsored by Renewal By Andersen will provide fun for the whole family during the festival in the park near Walnut Street. Enjoy free activities such as face painting, balloon animals, DIY sidewalk chalk creations, and more art-centric kids activities each day of the festival.
