Super Bowl Party Ideas: Food, Games, and Fun for Kids!

0

The Super Bowl is almost here! Across the country, millions of people will be tuning in to watch the big game, and because most of us will never be lucky enough to go in person, that means tuning in at home. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t still fun! People throw epic Super Bowl parties, and the spread of awesomely indulgent junk food, combined with laugh-out-loud Super Bowl ads entice even those who hate football.

Of course, once you have kids, things get a little trickier. You’ve got picky taste buds, early bedtimes, little ones who don’t understand the game, and a lot of boredom — because let’s be honest, kids don’t really want to just sit down and watch anything for four hours straight. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still have an awesome Super Bowl party!

Food

Even for those who don’t like football, Super Bowl parties are great. When else do you have the excuse to sit there and nosh on a bunch of junk food for hours on end? Here are some ideas to make both the kids and adults at the party happy.

  • Football-themed pizza: Everyone loves pizza, right? Spruce yours up a little this year! Get a frozen cheese pizza, and then arrange slices of pepperoni in the middle to make the shape of a football. Then, put some strands of string cheese in the middle to look like football laces. Ta-da!
  • Chips and dip: Everyone loves chips and dip. Everyone. So lean in to that! You can get some more adult dips, like a spicy salsa or a rocking guacamole, and then throw in a few cheese dips to keep the kids happy, too.
  • Mac-n-cheese bites: Break out your favorite macaroni and cheese recipe and get your muffin tin ready for some savory bites that both grown-ups and kiddos will love. Here’s a great recipe from Chef in Training!
  • Pigskin in a blanket: This is a great treat for a Super Bowl party — pigs in a blanket, pigskin… you get it, right? — and everyone loves them. You can use a teeny bit of mustard or ketchup to draw on little football laces to make them look a big more festive, too.
  • Pretzel bites: If your kids can’t go to any sporting event without begging for a pretzel, then head on over to Two Peas and Their Pod for an easy recipe for pretzel bites!
  • Chocolate-covered fruit footballs: Chocolate-covered fruit is really easy to make: just melt some chocolate wafers, dip, and then let cool. But — back to the football theme! — use some white icing to decorate them with football laces for extra fun.
  • Football cookies: Cookies make everyone happy, and Fancy Edibles has a fun recipe to make Super Bowl-themed cookies that are perfect for the big game.
  • Chicken wings: You can’t have a Super Bowl party without chicken wings, right? Instead of spicy buffalo wings, though, try making them dry, with no sauce, and have the sauce available for dipping instead.
