Lucky Charms for St. Patrick’s Day That Put Four-Leaf Clovers to Shame

0

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I’m reflecting on the items I’ve collected and found over the years that bring me good luck — my lucky charms, if you will! These items are so special and sentimental to me as they’ve not only brought me luck, but fantastic memories to boot.

Finding pennies and quarters while walking along the street was a favorite activity when I spent time with my Grandma. We seemed to always find money on our adventures (lucky!), which was always exciting. And even though I’m much older and my Grandma is no longer here, I continue to keep my eyes peeled for coins. When I do unexpectedly find a coin, I know it’s a sign from my Grandma and it makes me smile!

As a child, I participated in a lot of fun activities, and I am so appreciative to have had the opportunity. I rode horses, played tennis, soccer, and softball, was on the swim team, was a member of Girl Scouts, and traveled to many amazing places, among others. To keep these memories in one place, my parents gifted me with a gold bracelet and added charms through the years. The bracelet is very pretty, but heavy! It’s an amazing unique piece I plan to keep forever… a true lucky charm.

I loved college! If I could go back in time, I would definitely enjoy my college days again. But c’est la vie, it’s not to be. Instead, I can reminisce with fun photos, concert ticket stubs, sorority t-shirts, and mementos from studying abroad that I placed in a photo box and covered in fun images from magazines. Am I dating myself when I talk about decoupaging things with magazines? I made so many fun projects as a teen/college kid with magazine clippings! If you’re younger than I am, think Pinterest, but in real life! This box sits in my closet and even just glancing at it makes me happy. So not only are the box’s contents so special to me, but so is the box itself. This decoupaged box is full of so many amazing memories and I am lucky to have had these fun times.

When my husband proposed and shared a special note with me that day, you better believe I’m keeping that letter forever. He also wrote me a sweet list while we were dating that I keep tucked away in my wallet for safekeeping and read every once in awhile. I’m a true romantic and find myself so lucky to have him (and he me!)

When I had my son, I wanted to have a special memento to honor him. I love jewelry, so I found a gorgeous vintage ring with his birthstone as the centerpiece, and then had it re-sized for my finger. It’s a cocktail ring, so I don’t wear it often, but when it calls for a special occasion, I wear that ring proudly and receive many compliments. It’s certainly a unique and fun ring to wear. In fact, most of my jewelry is vintage and passed down from family members, so I really do hold these items dear.

As you now know, I am very sentimental and hold special memories with many items I own and love. I think they’ve brought me luck and happiness. So tell me, I’m not the only one – what are some lucky items that you treasure? I have yet to find a four leaf clover for St. Patrick’s Day, but I hope to one day add that to my collection!
