Episode 2 of the Fireflies and Whoopie Pie podcast is here! This week, Cassy and Erica discuss stress and how it affects moms, as International Stress Awareness Week comes upon us. Created by the International Stress Management Association, this week is dedicated to stress management, and erasing the stigma against stress and mental health. Stress can cause real problems – like anxiety, depression, digestive issues, headaches, muscle tension and pain, heart disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep problems, weight gain, memory and concentration impairment, and more. Likewise, chronic stress can create symptoms like aches and pains, insomnia, low energy, unfocused thinking, changes in appetite, emotional withdrawal, and more.

Moms know all about this kind of stress. In this episode of Fireflies and Whoopie Pie, Cassy and Erica talk about why moms feel more stressed and judged than dads do, as well as why this generation of moms feel more stressed than past generations did. They delve into what causes so much stress among moms, why it’s so common, and some ways to relieve the pressure we all feel.
